Ace Attorney

This anime is based off of a very popular video game. It follows Naruhodo Ryuichi, a rookie defense lawyer, through some of his cases. This anime is  a little waking and out there, but from what I could see of the game, that was the case in the game as well. I found interesting that they added the date and location information in boxes that remind me a lot of the game’s dialogue. It was a cute detail that they added into the anime.

I only had time to watch the first episode, however about 80% of the main story happens in court, which makes sense. There are flashbacks to the crime that happened during the opening of the anime. The meme that was created with the video game was also in the anime, so fan rejoice. This is definitely more of a niche anime, but Ryuichi is really cute so I might continue watching it.

This is a slice-of-life anime that is focused on a group of girls, who become friends in high school.  They all have very different personalities, so some interesting situations happen. Anne Hanakoizumi is always cheerful, Ruri Hibarigaoka who just wants to live a quiet life, and  Botan Kumegawa who has health issues. They are all in the same class because they are deemed unlucky so the school is going to try and teach them to be happy. This premise makes the anime very quirky and a bit off the wall.

It a very cutesy anime with a weird premise but I might continue watching it.

Bungo Stray Dogs

Ok so this one is a little bit of a cherished anime for me. Before my father’s passing I worked with a scanlation group on this manga, and one of my friend’s wife loves the manga. So I have high hopes for the anime.

This anime follows Atsushi Nakajima an orphan who saves Osamu Dazai from drowning during his suicide attempt. He finds out the Dazai and Doppo Kunikida are part of the Arms Detective Company which is made up, primarily, of people with special abilities. Atsushi find out that he has a special ability and join the company and starts to investigate crimes as part of Dazai’s and Kunikida’s team.

It’s a little weird, but very funny. So far it looks like a good adaptation, but we will see if it remain a such as the series progresses.

This is a fantasy drama that focus around Hiiro, an expert swordsman, who is on a journey. He arrives in a town where the ruler is a horrible man, and rules over his people while using fears to rule over his people. Hiiro goes to save a boy and finds himself in danger, we find out that he is linked to the evil dragon dol who pierced his heart many years before.

I’m not sure how to feel about this anime. The art design is beautiful and the fight scenes are everything that you would want in an anime. However the story does progress slowly, or at least it did in the anime. I’ll probably watch more since I don’t really have an opinion.
