This is such a cute series that I came across on Crunchyroll. I don’t normally go there for their dramas but this one looked very interesting. Like so many of the Japanese drama that is based on a novel series, but it may be a light novel judging by the cover. I guess this will be another book to add to my must read list once I’m fluent in Japanese.

We follow Goura Daisuke (Akira), he is in search of a job. However, after his grandmother dies he’s left to sell her book collection. He goes to the Antiquarian Bookshop which is ran by Shinokawa Shioriko (Gouriki Ayame). He becomes enamoured with her ability to tell so much just by books and when she offers him employment he gleefully agrees. As a result, he starts working at the bookshop and helps Shinokawa solve mysteries that all resolve around old books.

This is a sweet drama with very little romance in it, but they make it work. After watching Akira as Onizuka in GTO it was a little jarring seeing him in this. He does an excellent job in his role and he really embodied the awkward young man in this drama. As a book lover, this is a must watch drama. It’ll make you want to read a good book and notice the small differences in them like Shinokawa does. The chemistry between all the main actors was perfect. As you can tell, I’m sure, I love this drama.
