Briggs is back and¬†I was waiting for this book with baited breath since I finished the last book of her series. I listened to this as an audio book because I love Lorelei King as you all know. As the book is written in both Mercy’s and Adam’s voice, Lorelei King is joined by George Newbern. He does an excellent job mimicking the voices that Lorelei has already given to the characters. However, it is slightly different so the first chapter listening to Newbern is a little odd but once you’re used to it you’re good.

After being attacked and abducted, not a few miles away from her home. Mercy finds herself in the presence of the most powerful¬†vampire master in the world and Marsilia’s ex-lover. Since he doesn’t know her secret, Mercy manages to escape in her coyote form only to find herself in the heart of Europe. ¬†Her ability to think on her feet keeps her alive long enough to come in contact with the an ancient spirit of the Jewish quarter of Prague. Things are only going to get harder for our little coyote.

This¬†series keeps getting better and better. My biggest fear in any series is when the main character gets married to their love interest. This series took that milestone and continued in stride. This book proves that¬†even supernatural beings’past come back to haunt them. This book is an amalgam of Marsilia’s past, as well as Coyote’s. It also stems from the declaration of the safe zone of the tri-cities. I loved this book and the¬†continuous world building that is going on.

Anna and Charles have been together for 3 years, and¬†for the first time they are travelling for purely personal reasons. They go to visit Charles’ old friend, son of the local alpha, who’s life is coming to it’s natural end at the¬†ripe old age of 83. With Anna at his side, Charles comes to¬†spend some time with them, and to get Anna a horse of her own. While there, they discover a dangerous Fae on the loose and suddenly they are back into work mode. While keeping his friend’s family safe, they must track down and eliminate the threat.

This book series skips over the years and fits nicely within the Mercy Thompson series, but I love books like this one that focuses on the 2 character away from the overarching storyline. This book gives us a peek into Charles past, outside of the pack and outside of killing. As we know all of Anna’s story, expanding on Charles’ is nice. The chemistry between¬†the two main characters are perfect as always and I feel like Briggs allowed Anna to turn into a very strong woman. Though getting over past trauma is never easy, it’s nice to see Anna being so strong. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series already.

After the werewolves were thrust into the spotlight, after their coming out, it forced the Marrok to tighten his rule on them. This means more executions and Charles is being sent out more and more. Anna tries to show the Marrok that it’s taking a toll on him. When he finally gives in, the Marrok sends Anna and Charles to help the FBI solve a serial killer case. While helping the FBI, Anna tries to get Charles to open up to about what is bothering him so much. This might be their biggest obstacle yet.

This is an excellent continuation of the book series. This book has expanded Charles as a character and makes him feel more rounded.¬†I’m not saying that he wasn’t a good character before, but he seems more human.¬†Anna has grown since the last book and that is probably because 1 year has passed since then. I love the introduction of the new Boston-based werewolves and the expansion of the world. It’s a strong book and interesting plot to continue the¬†world’s narrative.

Ok! So what has our pair gotten into this time? This book is set before the coming out of the werewolves. While still navigating their mating bond, Anna and Charles must go to the European summit to listen to the fears of the European wolves. However, something is afoot and things keep happening around hinting that there may be someone scheming to get them to stop the reveal. Can Anna and Charles keep a large group of alphas at bay while they track whose behind all of the strange occurrences?

I ¬†feel like I’m just a fan of this universe. This book is better than the first book, but Charles still isn’t fleshed out fully. I understand that it’s hard to flesh out a¬†person who is hundreds of years old, but I am looking forward to it when it happens.

This loving the world and still loving the characters. I will say that the part in this book where Charles goes completely submissive in this book is very hot, even with no details. If you like any of the other books definitely pick this up.

Ok So we just finished talking about the Mercy Thompson series but I’m not ready to give up ¬†on that world just yet. Lucky for me we have the Alpha and Omega series that is based in the same world just with the focus of the Marrok’s¬†pack and Charles.

So the series actually starts with a short series but this book focuses on Charles and his new¬†mate Anna. Anna didn’t know that werewolves were even a thing until she was viciously¬†attacked by one. After her change, she gets beat into submission until Charles comes along. While working as the enforcer, he must figure out why she causes such a stir in his wolf, get used to the idea of having a mate while also tracking down the werewolf that has been attacking people¬†in the pack’s territory. We also get to know about the Moors, Asil’s,¬†past.

This book really expands on the character of¬†Bran and Charles. I loved¬†Asil as a character when I first met him in the Mercy Thompson books. This book allows use to look past the perceived¬†insanity that he puts on for people. We also get to learn more about Charles, who always seems like an enigma. He’s written in a relatable what and it makes up forget that he is a hitman. But what I really like about this book, is the depth that it gives Bran. Figuring what it is that makes him tick and act the way he does is amazing. I’m looking forward to reading more.

As much as I love this book, the story was a little confusing at times. Though I’m happy that I pushed through the hard parts. Also, I feel like Charles could use a bit more empathy, though I can understand why he doesn’t have much since it would possibly burden him even more.

So after barely surviving a volcano God’s wrath while protecting Christy, Mercy’s life was starting to get back to normal. Well as normal as it can be being a coyote shifter and mate to the local Alpha werewolf. Unfortunately, the Fae, who are still on the verge of war with humans when a troll¬†attacks the city to get back a human boy that underhill had taken centuries prior. Mercy must make a decision on how to keep their cities safe and Adam has to decide how he’s going to¬†get the pack to treat Mercy with the respect she deserves.

So Mercy is even more of a powerhouse in this book than the last, though let’s be honest, it’s hard not to be¬†powerful when you’ve been brought up by the Marrok and Adam has your back. After, essentially, declaring¬†the tri-cities the pack’s¬†territory and the¬†promise of protection of the citizens from the preternatural, she had to deal with the fallout. Now, throughout these books, Adam has always given Mercy breathing room because he was terrified of her leaving. Though, in this book he finally steps in and it’s magical. Briggs managed a very tough balancing act with this book. She’s still left Mercy the powerful woman she is and even though Adam starts protecting her, it doesn’t take away from that. We also get to learn more about the Fae and underhill thanks to Adien,¬†but we also¬†learn more about Jessy. I feel like Jessy should get a bit more presence in these books but I understand why she doesn’t. Overall, it’s a great read like every other book and really enjoyable. It was a perfect addition to the series.

This is the last book of the series that is currently out and I’m sad, but you guys get to have a different book series to take this series place. The next book is slated to come out March 7th 2017 and I will be waiting with bated breath.

What’s an Alpha female to do when her mate’s ex-wife is in life-threatening danger from a guy she’s recently slept with? Why, invite her into her home and offer her protection, of course. Against her better judgment Mercy agrees to have Christy stay with them and while Adam is tracking down the psycho ex, Mercy must navigate Christy’s power play on her own turf.

So we get to meet the infamous Christy in this book, past 3rd hand interactions. The character is written as a master manipulator, however, what we’ve learnt from previous books is that Mercy has an awful bite of her own.¬†We get to learn more about Coyote as well as walkers as well in this book which flashes out¬†the lore even more.¬†I loved this book for not only all the above but for also having Tad, one of my favourite 1/2 faes. This is a strong continuation og the book series.
