Leila and Eva’s house is finally complete and to fill the last corner of the house they go shopping at an antique shop. However, when the owner is found dead the next day under suspicious circumstances. Though the police are writing it off as a suicide, Heather knows better and persuades Ryan to take another look at the body.

Hello, Lyle my old Foe, I really didn’t miss that character, but he’s back in his book again. I am not a fan of him, and there aren’t any redeeming qualities like there had bee with Geoff. I guess I can be happy that Kate is still quiet. I don’t know why those characters are in the series, to be honest, but I can deal.

The mystery was a little interesting. I felt like it was a little easy to figure out in the end but that’s ok. Heather and Ryan work well together in this book like always. There really wasn’t much character development in this book but I’m coming to expect it from this series.

It’s not a bad book, I just wish there was a little more meat to these books.

Amy and Jamie have finally found their new home. They are settling in well together. However, when one of their new neighbours was found murdered, Amy has to meet her neighbours is the most awkward way possible. Can Amy question her neighbours while not getting on any of their bad sides while also trying to find out who killed the man?

This was an interesting little book that foreshadows what is going to happen in the last book in this series. With Amy and Jamie finally moved in together, Jamie is going to have to get used to Amy being pulled away from the house to investigate murders.

This murder was a little random when it comes to motive, and to be honest I don’t fully understand what the reason was in the end. It was just a little weird, to begin with, but then again so was the victim.

We get to see Rodney again in this book, which is nice since he kinda just fell out of the picture after his girlfriend was murdered in an earlier book. We also got to find out more about him and his family in this book. The character development was utilized well for the furthering of the storyline.

Overall, this was a good little book.

When Heather finds out that Roadkill Rodney has found love, and also found his way to Hillside. However, after only a few hours together, Rodney comes in search for Heather as he has just found his girlfriend dead in her store. Ryan and Heather must no sift through Norma’s past and figure out who would have wanted to kill her.

This was better than the last book. I was not terribly sure how this story was going to play out, however, I did feel like it was a little obvious. Clarke was used a little more in this book compared to the last book, however, not to the point that I would like. We do get to see the friendship between Eva and Leila developing even more throughout the book. They seem to be two peas in a pod in this book.

We got to see Rodney Roadkill in this book. It was a little surprised to see him in this book, though he was an interesting, I’m not sure how else they are going to use the character further in this series.

This book was enjoyable and a good continuation to the series.

Leila gets Donut Delight one morning, pale and shaking. When she reveals that she’s found a dead body in the entrance of her and Edna’s house. She doesn’t know who it is or how he got there. Heather acts quickly to get Ryan on the case. Now with 2 more adults in the house, Heather and Ryan work together to figure out who committed the crime and get her friends back into their home.

Ok, so this book wasn’t my favourite. It actually took longer than normal to read. Heather’s obsession with Clarke is a little out to left field I find. Though Heather is written as an obsessive character, this is even much even for her level. I get that this businessman is bad news, but the focus on him is a bit much.

The story was interesting, as was the murder mystery. The added aspect that Eva and Leila are caught up in it due to the scene of the crime is interesting. I’m not sure how they are going to continue and finish off that storyline as it might be a little difficult to tie up one week to the the next.

I have my standard complaint of not giving enough time for the story on the victim’s background or the store staff. But these seem par for the course now.

Overall it’s an ok read, just not great.

Yeah, I don’t know why this image has Book 8 on it, but I swear this is book 11.

When a movie company comes to town to film a movie, Missy is hired to provide cupcakes for the cast and crew. Though her main customer is taxing, she manages to still have fun with the rest of the crew. When her friend is found dead, Missy is pointed at to be the murderer due to a cupcake that was found at the scene of the crime.

It’s been a little while since I read this series and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. This book the mystery was a little overshadowed by the drama between Chas and Missy. It was a fun story with a character you love to hate. The way that Missy is involved is interesting, to say the least.

Missy didn’t really investigate much this book but we say many of our favourite reoccurring characters.

My only real issue with this book was the ending felt a little rushed and I felt like it could have been given a book on its own even if it was a non-mystery book.

Overall I really enjoyed this book.

After the incident with the movie, Missy is called on again because her late friend mentioned to a producer just how good her cupcakes were. So she gets invited to try out for a cooking show. However, not everything is as it seems when one of the judges for the bake-off was found dead. Now Missy is the prime suspect.

I enjoyed this book, even though there wasn’t much Chas in it. I really enjoy how he treats her in this book, it’s so sweet. She gets pulled into another murder mystery while away in New York. She doesn’t really investigate anything as she is the murder suspect and Chas is back home, but she does have her friend to look into what he could while she waited.

Missy is thrown for a loop in this book, and wants to make the situation work. Her strength as a character comes out in this book, which is lovely. Though she gets really close to losing it in this book, she does well to power through.

I enjoyed the end of the book when there was some character development and we got to see the side characters that weren’t present through the rest of the book. It was a nice to see them when there isn’t a mystery to solve.

I am still really enjoying this series.

Well, this was an interesting book. I must say, Missy gets herself is the oddest predicaments. Her Hollywood adventure it’s quite over at the moment. She is so swamped that we see her hiring new staff. The new staff don’t really get introduced in this book, but there was a lot more going on at the time, so it’s forgiven.

I am enjoying the new things that are happening with the book. Though she does talk about the crime, she doesn’t actively put herself in any danger during the length of the book, however, that doesn’t stop danger from finding her.

I really enjoyed this book, but I swear they are like tic-tacs, they don’t last very long.

After burning the candles at both ends for so long, Missy finally takes a step back from her stores. She starts letting her employees do more. She finally has time to participate in the book club that comes to the shop on a regular basis. When the leader is found dead, and another member is suspected of being the killer, Missy wonders if she ever really knew the people in the book club.

I really want to talk about the end of the book but I don’t want to ruin it. I will say that Chas was really cute. It was the perfect ending for the book.

Missy was more active in the investigation this time around. We got to meet the book club members and learn a lot about them in this book. I enjoyed their character development throughout the book. Their background gets incorporated so well into the mystery that it was out of place.

This was a fun book and it was a good add-on to the series.

While working an event, the 2nd candidate is found dead in the back of the van. Now Missy’s employee is being looked at for murder even though there was no proof. Meanwhile, Missy has to come to terms with some major changes that are coming down the pipes.

This was sadly not my favourite book in this series. It focused greatly on character development, however, I felt like it came too quickly. At the end, I could see what was happening but it seemed to come out of nowhere.

The mystery interesting but I am getting tired of the plot being someone actively trying to frame someone else. At least in the last book, it made sense, but trying to frame someone because of tattoos and piercings is a bit of a stretch.

I also don’t like books that end with a cliffhanger like how this one did. I enjoyed the book, but I wish it was better.

Ouna Bay Cozy Mystery (Ouna Bay #1-4)

So I read an Omnibus of this series, so instead of writing 4 posts because each story is only about 65 pgs long. I’m only going to write one. Sorry but this is going to be long. Also I’ve noticed that my mystery of choice recently seems to always involve sweets… I sweat I’m on a diet.

After repeatedly refusing offers from the Heyes company to buy out her Café, odd things start happening. The odd coincidence it that it starts the day her new man comes into town. As he is the nephew of the owner of the Heyes company she is a little suspicious that he could be the one behind it.

This is a fun little short story, or maybe it’s a novelette. Though the story is set up as a mystery, I wouldn’t call it a mystery myself. There isn’t really a who done it, and you never meet the culprit until the end of the book. There is no plot for you to follow, so it’s more of a light romance with a hint of mystery. You become more invested in the characters’ relationships rather than the ‘mystery’.

Houston and Becky have great chemistry together. Though I do have to admit that the reason that Houston claims that he came to Ouna Bay for is a little creepy. All and all it’s a cute little quick read.

Rosalie has finally quit her job at the bank and has decided to come work for Becky. However, when they go to pick up Rosalie’s last pay check, they find the bank director dead with Rosalie’s check in his hand. Now with her best friend as a murder suspect and Houston out of town, Becky starts snooping around to find out who killed the Bank Director.

Ok, so this is the type of story that I like. Though again, we don’t have any hints of who could have done it, it was really fun. Also, through out the book we start to get a feel about the other people in town other than those directly involved with Becky on a regular basis. There is an undisclosed amount of time since the first book, but we can assume that it hasn’t been long because Becky doesn’t comment that she hasn’t been dating Houston for very long.

Becky and Rosalie do get to play a bit more of amateur detectives in this book, and the romance does take a back seat. However, I must say Becky and Houston are very cute together.

I much prefer this book over the first as it expands the city more.

When Ada was murderer in cold blood at the baking contest, the entire town is ho

Man I really, like this book. Though it was death at a food fair and that isn’t exactly the newest idea. However, the way that it was incorporated into the murder was an interesting spin. The characters have been growing and the chemistry is excellent.

Though Becky is reluctant when investing most if the cases, she goes all in when Rosalie starts investigating. Houston is the first male partner that isn’t out right trying to stop using his girlfriend from investigating. However, its not a bad idea when you’re looking into a murder case.

Overall, I really enjoyed the novella.

31117110

After one of her peanut butter cupcakes is used to kill a local at a charity event. Suddenly, Becky is under the microscope and is worried about how it’s going to affect business. Suddenly, Rosalie is on the case to track down the killer and clear Becky’s name.

Ok, so this is a fun little book to finish off the series. I kinda wish there were more books, but alas that is it. But I can hope.

In this book, Becky and her relationship with Houston is in the forefront as he has a relatively hot assistant working with him at the company. She gets pushed to her limits in order to ignore the jealousy of the working conditions. Also, once one of the blue bay cafe’s cupcakes were used as a murder weapon, Becky is a little on edge the entire time. Rosalie is a little more adventurous than Becky and does push her quite a bit more in this book.

I do like how they some how got a dog in this book, but I find it very cute, and enjoyed how they used his in the story. It’s a really good book.
